Bottle Notes:
”If you’ve come to expect top quality Malbec from Argentina and great value from us, Lot 23 totally over-delivers. The grapes for this wine are hand-harvested from 100 year old vines situated on an expansive vineyard located in the Agrelo district of Lujan de Cuyo, one of the top spots in the world for growing Malbec. After fermentation, the wine is aged for six months in French oak barrels and then kept in bottle for another six months before release.”
Our Tasting Notes:
This 2011 Old Vine Malbec was a giant fruit monster, but in a good way! Juicy, dark plum and blackberry flavors were followed by a kick of cranberry and spice. I’m happy to report that although this was absolutely a fruit-forward wine, it was not over the top or overly sweet. It had a lingering, sweet and spicy finish. Such a dynamic wine with layers and layers of flavor. Bold, solid, and flawless from beginning to end. What a fantastic value!
The whole philosophy and history behind this company is fantastic. The goal was to bring quality wines to consumers but to keep prices down. Their story is best said in their own words:
“90+ Cellars was created because we like drinking great wine anytime we want. We wanted an everyday “go to” wine that tasted like one usually reserved for special occasions, a delicious wine that we could open any night of the week or whenever friends arrived. So, in the spring of 2009, armed with a copy of the latest Wine Spectator, Kevin called and emailed wineries with a history of high ratings and asked if they had wine for sale. Some told him to get lost, others simply ignored him, but in the end, he found a handful of willing winemakers. The plan was this: They put the 90+ Cellars label on their wine, and we sell it at a fraction of the original price.
You may recall that the economy wasn’t in the best shape in 2009. Demand for wines priced more than $20 a bottle took a hard fall, and inventories were piling up. Rather than discount their wine and erode the value of their brand, wineries were willing to part with it for less. We paid them promptly and promised complete anonymity, of course.
That summer 90+ Cellars was born. Since then, it’s been our goal to seek out, bottle and deliver fine wine that costs you less money.
Great Wine. Anytime. That’s 90+ Cellars. Enjoy!”

Hands down my favorite 90+ wine from their entire line (although I still have to try the pinot).
Dave, I agree! This Old Vine Malbec is a great value. I’m looking forward to trying more from 90+
